of life. Theirs is a very rich imagination reflection the surround realities in a
colourful at times paradoxical way.
Ukrainians are a hospitable nation. One of the oldest traditions is to meet guests with
bread and salt, saying «Welcome».
language is the second most widely spoken language of the Slavic group. The status of
Ukrainian language on Ukrainian territories was defined, except during brief period of
independence by foreign forces. As a rule, the role of the Ukrainian language was
restricted. In the former USSR, for example, there was no legislation on languages.
Russian was the only language of government. Although Ukrainian constitution of 1937
guaranteed the use of Ukrainian in the schools but in fact Russian continued to be the
only language of institution for the Ukrainian population.
For Ukrainian people there
is no barrier to understand Russian. They know both two languages.
